Who knew that the hardest part of being an adult is figuring out what to cook for dinner every single night for the rest of your life. – anonymous
I’m 4 days late to starting this blog, firstly because it just occurred to me that I should blog this experience and second, I had enough prep to do get ready for a very difficult challenge without worrying about writing too.
So for now let me back track. On June 28; a visit to the naturopath leaves my husband and I with unexpected instructions- to reset with the Whole30 as a way to address some chronic health issues. His- metabolic syndrome. Mine- chronic pain for over 20 years. More about this later. We decided to start July 1st. Makes sense, right?
The Whole30 reset rules:
- No grains
- No dairy
- No sugar, processed food, desserts, legumes, alcohol, cigarettes, you get the idea.
Basically not allowed to eat anything as my husband puts it. He has a love affair with food. On day 3, he threatened suicide. (Don’t worry his still alive and pretty much okay).
My mission became to feed us both but make it good so he doesn’t quit and drag me down with him. I really, really, really want to know if this will work. I have tried massage, acupuncture, chiropractor, yoga, meditation, working out, basically all things to try and end the pain. Please let this work…
With no further ado, our hotel room Whole30 journey while stranded in Hong Kong.
